“Adam, stop eating on my couch.”“Adam, stop letting Cruz eat on the couch.” “Adam, stop watching the tv with the volume so high. Cruz will go deaf.” “Adam, stop ignoring me when it comes to my couch.” “Adam, stop.” “Adam. MY COUCH.”

Don’t want to. Adam had to hold himself back from rolling his eyes at her for that comment. She had to be kidding right? He wasn’t really indifferent or upset, he just didn’t know how to let her see anything other than that right now. Inside he was a mess. “You can’t really think that I wouldn’t want to go. Plus the closet thing can wait. I’m sure Ben won’t mind putting it off for a day or starting on it on his own.” Raphi was exaggerating now, he did want to go with her if it meant that he’d be able to get used to the idea faster if it turned out that she really was pregnant.

“Raphaelle,” he said sighing in frustration at her reaction to the way he took it. He knew he hadn’t reacted the way that he should have. In his mind, she shouldn’t have been surprised at all. Raphaelle knew that he had never done well with anything that was family related especially when it came to kids. He hadn’t known what to do when he first found out about Cruz but things had turned out well and he wasn’t even her biological daughter. He loved her though and cared about that little girl more than he cared about his own life. Another baby shouldn’t have been something he freaked out about, especially one that would be his own. “Raphi,” he said walking over to her. “I’ll go with you.”

He stood still not knowing whether he should say something or just walk out of the room. Pregnant. She just said that she thought she was pregnant. He knew what it meant and he knew how that happened but he couldn’t seem to put two and two together. His mind was refusing to accept the thought and he knew that this wasn’t the type of reaction that she had been hoping for. “I did hear you the first time I just… I wanted to make sure that I heard you right,” he said finally remembering that he had joints and could in fact move. He took a step to the side and nodded at her words still unsure of what he should do. “We should probably go to a doctor.”

“You know how interesting my Monday’s are, my answer really shouldn’t surprise you.” He accepted her hug and kiss greeting as he always did but now he was more convinced that something was going on. She had been extra affectionate with it and that only mean that she was setting him up for something that might not settle well with him. He looked down at her, expecting her to just spill it and when she did he was sure that his mind shut down for what seemed like ten minutes which had really been seconds. “You think you might be what?” he asked as if he hadn’t heared her properly the first time.
